The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Gold Standard (GS) Foundation has officially recognized our project as part of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Meaning we've made a good impact on climate security and sustainable development. Only a handful of projects in all of Pakistan are currently GS4GG (Gold Standard for the Global Goals) compliant, and ours is one of them. Projects that make significant strides toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals are recognized with this prestigious certification (SDGs). To ensure the peace and prosperity of people and the planet, now and into the future, these SDGs are an urgent call to action by all countries, developed and developing, in a global partnership. We are pleased to announce that our initiative was recognized for its beneficial impact on three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are:
1. We need to act immediately to mitigate the effects of climate change. Our nation produces clean energy for its citizens without adding to the global warming problem. For which the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) grants us CERs, often known as carbon credits. The purpose of the project is to utilize wind resources for electricity generation through the construction of a wind farm with a total capacity of 49.5 MW and to deliver the electricity generated from the project to National Transmission & Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC). By replacing the electricity supplied by the grid, which is heavily dominated by fossil fuel fired power plants, with electricity generated from wind power, SEDL achieves obvious Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The estimated reduction of emissions per year is 84,804 tons of CO2. Then, GS provides further certification for certain CERs.
2. Guarantee that everyone can get their hands on clean, contemporary energy that doesn't break the bank. All of the renewable energy is fed into the national grid.
3. Encourage economic growth that is full employment, productive, and sustainable for all people. Thanks to our Project, which also promotes employee wellness and technological advancement, many new jobs have been made possible.
However, our efforts to improve the lives of the people of our country extend far beyond these specific Global Goals. Most recently, we've been referring to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to focus on two more SDGs, which are:
Ensuring healthy lives for all ages and promoting well-being for all people at all stages of life. People in the neighborhood and the neighboring villages can get free medical advice and treatment from our professionals.
Make water and sanitation accessible to everyone and sustainably manage them. Reverse osmosis (RO) filtration facility has also been set up as part of our project to supply the area with potable water. In this regard, our RO plant is supplying 2325 gallons daily, 69741 gallons monthly and 836892 gallons yearly and has produced over 4533165 gallons since its operation and making sure to fulfill the local family’s requirements. According to NEPRA report 2020 against CSR works, the estimated 220 persons are being facilitated by RO plant each month.
